TWO CHARGED IN SHOOTING OF AREA MAN

WILKES-BARRE -- Two men, including one from Connecticut, were arrested and
charged early Saturday in connection with a shooting on Park Avenue on Friday
Wilkes-Barre police officer Richard Harding said Videll Vieney of Wyoming
Avenue, Kingston, was shot in the leg with a shotgun after a dispute with the
two men around 8:12 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Park Avenue.
Darryl Damon "Chicago" Luv, 28, of Manchester, Conn., and Edwin Soto, 22,
of Eastview Drive, Wilkes-Barre, were taken into custody a short time after
the shooting, Harding said. The two were apprehended in a Park Avenue
City Detective Brent Sevison said Vieney told police the shooting stemmed
from a dispute about a woman.
After being shot, Vieney walked about one-half block before collapsing in
the back yard of a Park Avenue home. Vieney was taken to Mercy Hospital,
Wilkes-Barre, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition Saturday
Harding said Luv is charged with criminal conspiracy and aggravated
assault. Soto is charged with criminal conspiracy. Police said the
investigation is continuing.
Luv and Soto were both arraigned early Saturday before District Justice
Michael Collins of Wilkes-Barre. Luv's bail was set at $20,000 and Soto's at

Friday night's shooting did not surprise Park Avenue resident Joe
The lifelong Wilkes-Barre resident said someone recently shot out the back
window of a neighbor's car.
Another female resident, who asked not to be identified, said she is sick
of the commotion in the neighborhood.
"This is no good for me," she said. "I'm ready to move. My nerves are bad."
