WILKES-BARRE -- Two men, including one from Connecticut, were arrested and charged early Saturday in connection with a shooting on Park Avenue on Friday night.
Wilkes-Barre police officer Richard Harding said Videll Vieney of Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, was shot in the leg with a shotgun after a dispute with the two men around 8:12 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Park Avenue.
Darryl Damon "Chicago" Luv, 28, of Manchester, Conn., and Edwin Soto, 22, of Eastview Drive, Wilkes-Barre, were taken into custody a short time after the shooting, Harding said. The two were apprehended in a Park Avenue residence.
City Detective Brent Sevison said Vieney told police the shooting stemmed from a dispute about a woman.
After being shot, Vieney walked about one-half block before collapsing in the back yard of a Park Avenue home. Vieney was taken to Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition Saturday night.
Harding said Luv is charged with criminal conspiracy and aggravated assault. Soto is charged with criminal conspiracy. Police said the investigation is continuing.
Luv and Soto were both arraigned early Saturday before District Justice Michael Collins of Wilkes-Barre. Luv's bail was set at $20,000 and Soto's at $7,500.
Both men were sent to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
Friday night's shooting did not surprise Park Avenue resident Joe Yourglivch.
The lifelong Wilkes-Barre resident said someone recently shot out the back window of a neighbor's car.
Another female resident, who asked not to be identified, said she is sick of the commotion in the neighborhood.
"This is no good for me," she said. "I'm ready to move. My nerves are bad."
