    Charges against
    man include theft
   
    On Thursday police arrested a man they believe was breaking into cars in the Boscov's Department Store parkade.
    Jonathan Ambrose, 30, of Butler Street, Wyoming, was charged with receiving stolen property, theft, and criminal mischief. Police said he was seen looking into cars in the parkade, on South Franklin Street. Ambrose had on him prescription drugs and other items stolen from other cars, police said.
    Ambrose is in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

    Public drunkenness
    charges filed
   
    Police arrested two women and charged them with public drunkenness in separate incidents Friday and Saturday.
    Shannon Belles, 24, of Norristown, was arrested at Airy and Stanton streets at 4:09 a.m. Saturday.
    Sheila Klingensmith, 45, of Lincoln Plaza, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested near 25 S. Welles St. at 3:22 a.m. Friday.

    Woman tells cops
    of face spraying
   
    A pair of men sprayed pepper spray in the face of a woman as she walked into her city home early Saturday, police said.
    Melissa Rodriguez told police she was attacked as she walked into her home at 407 Blackman St. at 3:20 a.m. The pair, described as two men wearing dark clothes, hit her in the head and knocked her to the ground before spraying her. Police did not specify if the woman was robbed.
    Rodriguez was treated at Wilkes-Barre Mercy Hospital.

    Trio hospitalized
    in vehicle crash
   
    A driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake Friday morning on North River Street, police said, and three people were sent to the hospital after the crash.
    City police said Bonnie Clyde, of Birchwood Court, Wilkes-Barre, was driving her 1994 Jeep north on North River Street at Tannery Street when she was hit from behind by a 1999 Buick Century driven by John Williams, of Newport Street, Nanticoke.
    Police said Williams told them he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. Both drivers, as well as Williams' passenger Betty Williams of Nanticoke, were treated for minor injuries.

    Woman to be charged
    with leaving crash
   
    A woman will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly hit a parked car in the South Main Plaza parking lot on Friday, police said.
    Police said Patricia Petro was backing out of a parking spot in her 1987 Ford when she hit a parked 1993 Pontiac owned by Jami Rolon. Petro is accused of fleeing without providing her name or other information.
    A passenger sitting in the Rolon car, Robert Cook, complained of neck pain but said he would seek treatment on his own.

    Cops: SUV causes
    multivehicle crash
   
    A hit-and-run driver triggered a chain-reaction crash on South Pennsylvania Avenue Friday, police said.
    Mary Geiger told police her 1987 Buick was rear-ended by a gray SUV as she drove north on South Penn. Geiger's car was pushed into a 2000 Volkswagen driven by Roxanne Degnan. The VW, in turn, hit a 1992 Toyota, driven by Teresa Cupil.
    All drivers complained of neck and back pain, but refused trips to the hospital.

    Incident with deer
    causes car damage
   
    A Hunlock Creek woman's car was damaged after she swerved to avoid a deer Friday afternoon.
    Tara Cooper, 28, told state police at Shickshinny that she was northbound on Post Office Road in her 1992 Pontiac LeMans at 4:50 p.m. when the deer ran out in front of her.
    Cooper said she swerved to avoid the deer, hitting a utility pole on the other side of the road. Her car had to be towed.

    Ashley man faces
    charge of DUI
   
    An Ashley man was arrested Friday on evidence of drunken driving after a traffic stop, police said.
    David Wendolwski, 42, of 26 Timpson St., was arrested just before 2:30 p.m. Friday.
