    Jay J. Hammeran, 45, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.
    Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 17, 1959, he was a son of the late Richard and Collen (Wolfe) Hammeran. He graduated from Mohler High School, Cincinnati, Ohio, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Southern California. He was the Chair of the Communication Arts Department, Program Director, Advertising/Public Relations at Marywood University. He served as advisor for the Public Relations Student Society, the American Advertising Federation and WoodWord. He also read for the blind.
    He is survived by his wife of eight years, the former Debra Silveri; brother, Kevin, Florida; and nieces and nephews, Matthew and Jackie Silveri and Keith and Sarah Hammeran.
    The funeral service will be held Friday, December 17, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston. Interment will be in the West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, Fox Hill Road, Plains Township, Pa., 18705.
