Wilkes professor’s research featured on Animal Planet tonight

A Wilkes University biology professor’s research on squirrel behavior is scheduled to appear tonight in a segment on the Animal Planet’s “Most Extreme.”

Professor Michael Steele and students from Wilkes University and Central Connecticut State University were filmed early this year while conducting research in Kirby Park. The study involves the animal’s use of deceptive behavior around other squirrels as a means to horde food.

The episode, called “The Most Extreme Pirates” is scheduled to run today at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and again on Wednesday at 3 a.m.
