Helen Simons, formerly of Haverford Drive, Laflin, died Tuesday at Lake Side Nursing Center, Dallas.
Born April 24, 1926, in Bamburg, S.C., she moved to the Wyoming Valley area with her husband, Mike, in 1946. She was a daughter of the late James and Lena (Morris) Helen. She was a former member of Wyoming Valley Country Club. For many years, she was an avid golfer. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, in 1994; sister Jimilee Morris; brothers Jack, James and Vance Morris.
Surviving are her sons, Richard Simons, Tierra Verde, Fla.; Michael Simons, Lincoln, N.H.; daughters Debbie and her husband, Hunt Barnett, Santa Monica, Calif.; Kathy and her husband, Tony Weiss, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren A.J. Weiss, Jennifer Mercado, Neil Simons, Jason Barnett, Sean Barnett, Wilson Simons; great-granddaughter Reese Ann Weiss; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Mamary-Durkin Funeral Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours.
