Leonard F. Lane, 82, of Hawley, passed away at his home Wednesday morning.
Born June 1, 1924, in Edwardsville, he was a son of the late Frank and Ann Phillips Labotski. After graduating from Edwardsville High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served with the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific during World War II, fighting in invasions in Eniwitok, Guam and Okinawa. Following his discharge, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilkes College and his Master’s Degree from Ryder College in New Jersey. He was a math teacher and football coach at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, N.J. He also was an assistant principal at Voorhees High School, Glen Gardner, N.J., where he retired in 1983. After retiring, he relocated to Harveys Lake. He was assistant principal at Crestwood High School, retiring from there in 1988. He was a member of Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Betty Reese; daughters Robbyn Kydd, Clinton, N.J.; Marla Crandall, Welcome Lake; four grandsons, Dustin and Spencer Kydd, Bradley and Benjamin Crandall; sister Helen Benigno, Branchville, N.J.; one niece.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. from Karl E. Blight Funeral Home, 392 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
