Mark Valeski

Mark P. Valeski, 61, of Hughestown, died Friday afternoon at Mercy Hospital in Scranton.

His wife is Rose Kepich Valeski. They had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Nov. 20, 2005. Born on March 17, 1945, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Anthony P. and Anna (Buckshin) Valeski. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and Lackawanna College, Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service on Stafford Avenue, Scranton, for 30 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pittston. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the United Postal Workers Union. He was a past charter member and served as president in 1981-1982 for the Hughestown Lions Club. He was a former volunteer for the Hughestown Fire Co.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who cherished his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is also survived by his son, Mark P. Valeski II and his wife, Cyndi, Exeter; two daughters, Andrea Valeski and Rebecca Valeski, both of Hughestown; four grandchildren, Timothy Scott, Kaleigh Elizabeth, Kiera Rose and Zachary Mark; a brother, Anthony Valeski and his wife, Alice, New Port Richey, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Chiarelli, Pittston; maternal aunts, Jule Wilchinski, St. Mary’s Lake, Fla.; Helen Settineri, Pinehurst, Fla.; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter.

Friends may call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Military services will be conducted by the AMVETS Post 189, Dupont.
