Dennison, Cougars down Cheltenham

HAZLETON -- Monica Dennison scored 18 points to lead Hazleton Area to a 55-53 victory over Cheltenham Saturday in the consolation round of the Lady Cougar Tip-Off Tournament.

Alyssa Flanagan chipped in with 14 points and Maddy Ludwig rounded out the Cougars’ top three with 11 points.

Nicole Pender led Cheltenham with 14 points.

Pocono Mountain East 39, Berwick 32

Nikki Schnek led Pocono Mountain East, draining six shots, including three 3-pointers and going 3-for-6 at the line for a game-high 18 points as Pocono Mountain East beat Berwick, 39-32.

Corinne Belanger chipped in nine points and Paige Karlin added five.

Kaitlin Michaels scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Old Forge 47, Seton Catholic 41

Kim Kaville scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Old Forge in a semifinal game of the Marseco Memorial Tip-Off Tournament. Chrissy Belko chipped in seven rebounds, six assists and six steals for the Blue Devils.

Jamie Powers led Seton Catholic with 13 points. Christie Delisseo added 10 for Seton.

Pittston 50, Wyoming Area 33

Regina Linsky led Pittston Area with 14 points in a semifinal game of the Marseco Memorial Tip-Off Tournament. Danielle McGlynn scored 10 points for the Patriots and Marina Castellino and Kristen Barnes each scored seven.

Elyse Lanesko was the only Warrior to reach double digits, scoring 10 points.

Bishop O’Reilly 53, Stroudsburg 22

Marissa Chesnavich scored 22 points to lead Bishop O’Reilly in the opening game of the Plymouth Rotary Tip-Off Tournament. Megan Kazmerski added seven points for the Queenswomen and Kelli Crossin tossed in six.

Emilyn Rosario led Stroudsburg with 10 points.

Mifflinburg 53, Northwest 40

Courtney Kurelja led all scorers with 19 points to down the Rangers.

Brittney Piatt finished with 16 points for Northwest, who also got 11 from Felicia Zawatski.

Nativity BVM 49, Wyoming Valley West 45

Valley West’s Nicole Scharpnick led all scorers with 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Spartans fell to Nativity.

Cassie Phillips scored 12 to lead the winners. Scharpnick hit a pair of treys.
