Doris H. Sweitzer, 89, West Eighth Street, Kingston Township, passed away Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Carol Bullock of Bodle Road, Franklin Township.
Born in West Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late Susan Shirley.
Doris attended West Wyoming High School, class of 1936, and recently attended their 69th class reunion. She was employed by Nelson Furniture for 20 years, operated a produce stand for 35 years on West Eighth Street and also worked in various garment factories. Doris and her late husband farmed their own land for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of America for 35 years and served as a State Officer at the state conference, a member of Mountain Grange #567, and the Friendly Circle, Wyoming.
Doris was preceded in death by husband, Roland Sweitzer. Surviving are a son, James Sweitzer; daughter, Carol Bullock, both of Franklin Township; grandchildren, James Sweitzer, Virginia; Lynn Rosengrant, Hamlin; Robert Sweitzer, West Wyoming; Erica Bullock Maloney, Sweet Valley; and Bill Bullock; Dallas; stepgrandchildren; Thomas Jeffrey, Falls; Debbie Douglass, New York; 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Jackson Cox of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Marsh Cemetery, Centermoreland.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
