Wilkes baseball team sweeps

MADISON, N.J. -- Brad Woznisky and Kyle Follweiler combined to allow only five hits in the opening game of Wilkes’ conference-opening doubleheader versus Drew on Sunday. Corey Helfrich tossed a complete-game two-hitter in the nightcap.

The Colonels won both games by identical scores of 2-0 to improve their overall record to 8-2.

Woznisky pitched four innings in Game One, allowing four hits and striking out three batters to earn the win. Follweiler came in for the final two innings, allowing only one runner to reach base to earn the save.

Helfrich earned his second win of the season, fanning three batters, in Game Two.

Neumann 9, Misericordia 0 Neumann 9, Misericordia 4

Ryan Savka had three hits and three RBI as Misericordia dropped both games of a doubleheader to Neumann College on Sunday.

The Cougars play a doubleheader at Alvernia today.

Softball Misericordia 8, Alvernia 0 Misericordia 3, Alvernia 0

Jen Gehman hit three home runs to lead Misericordia in its Pennsylvania Athletic Conference opener on Sunday.

Gehman hit two homers and registered three RBI in Game One of the doubleheader. Nicole Decatur picked up the win, allowing only two hits.

In the nightcap, Gehman belted a solo home run in the top of the first inning and Lindsay Miller added a pair of doubles.

Misericordia will host King’s on Wednesday.

Men’s Tennis Wilkes 8, Keystone 1

Kyle Ungvarsky won at first singles and teamed with No. 5 five singles winner Nick Williams to take a doubles win, leading Wilkes in non-conference play on Sunday.

Tom Miller and Salman Pukenar were also two-time winners for Wilkes. Cory Golden and Matt Kenney were other singles winners for the Colonels. .

King’s 8, Keystone 1

King’s swept all six singles matches with straight set wins from Mike Portanova, Nick Hosjack, Blake Bonser, Matt Dunne, David Boe and Adam Pascoe.

David Kaluzavich and Povl Schmidt teamed for the win at No. 1 doubles and David Chen and Ron Argus were winners for the Monarchs at No. 3 doubles.

Women’s Lacrosse Misericordia 21, Rosemont 5

Shannon Tinkham scored seven goals to lead Misericordia over Rosemont on Saturday. Jamie Wargo had five goals and an assist and Bridgette Stone added four goals and an assist.

Men’s Lacrosse Misericordia 10, Immaculata 7

Sean Collins scored four goals and handed out two assists to lead the Cougars in their PAC opener on Saturday. Kevin Malkin scored two goals and Dan Rafferty and Dan McKeefrey each had a goal and an assist.
