Letha M. Schenck

Letha M. Schenck, 92, of Noxen, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Idetown, Pa., August 14, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Adelia Crispell. She resided in Noxen for most of her life.

She graduated from Monroe Township High School and Bloomsburg State College. Letha taught primary grades at Beaumont for five years and kindergarten for the Lake-Lehman School District for nine years, retiring in 1971.

Mrs. Schenck was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Group and the Classmates.

Letha was a loving and kind lady with a very pleasant personality who was loved by her family and friends as deeply as she loved them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis W. Schenck, who died in 1996; brothers, Earl and Claude Crispell; and a sister, Beatrice Traver.

She is survived by sons, Lawrence F. Schenck and his wife, Peggy, of Cumming, Ga., W. Keith Schenck, at home, and Marshall I. Schenck, of Noxen; grandchildren, Kevin Schenck and his wife, Sandy, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Deborah Chatham and her husband, Chad, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Amber and Tyler Wigner; sister, Ruth Newberry, of Noxen.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Noxen United Methodist Church, Route 29, Noxen, with the Rev. Leanne Campbell and the Rev. Keith Benjamin, officiating. Interment will be in Orcutt’s Grove Cemetery, Noxen. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
