Students of the Wyoming Valley Karate Club and Grand Master Jim Ambrose recently competed in the New England Collegiate Karate Tournament and Battle of Boston Open Tournament at Boston College. Among the students garnering medals were: Doug Coslett, who won gold in intermediate kata; and Mike Shutt, who grabbed gold in advanced kata. Both men teamed with Mike Hillman for a third-place finish in team fighting, while competing in the advanced black belt division. Hillman also brought home a gold medal while participating in the Keystone State Games in intermediate kata and a silver medal in intermediate sparring. Others who won at the Keystone State Games were Jedi Weller, who won a bronze medal in intermediate kata; and Dan Volovick, who grabbed bronze in beginner sparring.
