Josephine Anne Loke, passed away, Friday, August 24, 2007, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen Golden, after a long battle with cancer.
She had just celebrated her 77th birthday on August 18, 2007.
JoAnne, as she was known, was a daughter of the late Stanley J. Gesek Sr. and Sadie E. (Shoemaker) Gesek.
JoAnne resided in Plymouth and the surrounding area her entire life. She was educated in the Larksville schools.
As a young girl she worked at the Duplan Silk Mill, later at the United Pants Factory and most recently, prior to her illness, for the Salvation Army.
JoAnne loved to collect porcelain dolls and music boxes. She was also an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty.
JoAnne is survived by her children, Carol J. Gmiter and her husband, Charlie and their children, Sam and Cara; Kathleen A. Golden and her children, Greg Jr., Loren and Sarisa; Paul Loke III and his wife, Florence and their children, Dena, Katrina, Paul IV, Tara, Krista and Vanessa; Mary E. Loke and her son, Jason; David J. Loke and his daughter, Tara; Michael J. Loke and his daughter, Channing; and Thomas J. Loke.
She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley J. Gesek Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Glen Burnie, Md.; two sisters, Kathryn L. Bienick and her companion, Michael, of the Lyndwood section of Hanover Township and Bernice T. Snyder and her husband, Jack, of Williston, Vt.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
