Doris C. Pollock, 88, of East Broadway Street, Larksville, formerly of Benton, died at 6:10 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007, at HCR Manor Care, Kingston, where she was a patient for two months.
Born on June 8, 1919, in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late Reese and Mary (Spargo) James.
She resided in Benton from 1952 to 1997 when she moved to Larksville. Doris was a 1937 graduate of the former Plymouth High School.
A longtime member of the Benton United Methodist Church, she had also been active in the Women’s Civic Club of Bloomsburg; Bloomsburg Chapter 279, Order of the Eastern Star; Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary; and the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion Auxiliary.
Doris was an avid baseball fan who especially enjoyed the New York Yankees.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben R. Pollock, who died on April 24, 1998; two sisters Marjorie Roberts and Lillian Hier.
She is survived by daughter Margaret Anne Temple, of Larksville; son Ben R. “Butch” Pollock II, of Walker, Minn.; five grandchildren Anne Marie Carpenetti, Ronald Temple II, Vickie Temple, Kristin Pollock and Erin Pollock; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home, 30 Two & A Half St., Benton, with the Rev. William N. Lukesh, pastor, Forty Fort Presbyterian Church and her former pastor in Benton, officiating. Interment will be in Benton Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
