On Sept 26, the University of Scranton’s Schemel Forum will commence a lecture series on “Race in America: From Slavery to Affirmative Action” with Morey Myers, Esq. The lectures will be held on Wednesdays through Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 570.941.7816. On the weekend of Sept. 28 to Sept. 30, the University of Scranton will welcome the family members of current students to campus as a part of its annual Friends and Family Weekend. The University of Scranton Players will perform Stephen Dietz’s “More Fun Than Bowling” on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. and Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. in the McDade Center for Literary & Performing Arts. Also on Sept. 28, Rev. James Martin, S.J., author of “My Life With The Saints” and associate editor of America magazine (the national Catholic magazine), will discuss “Humor in the Catholic Church” at the University of Scranton’s third annual J.J. Quinn, S.J., Memorial Lecture Celebrating the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Houlihan-McLean Center and will be followed by a book signing.
