On Tuesday, county Election Bureau Director Leonard Piazza repaid $357 he had been over-reimbursed by the county for a 2005 trip.
"I met with the Controller’s Office, reviewed the statements and it did appear that there was no reimbursement at the time. As such, as of this morning, I did reimburse the county. ... So we’re all squared up with the county," Piazza said.
Piazza said he wanted a quick resolution because "that’s usually how I run the office. If there is a problem, I usually take care of it immediately. Even though it goes back to 2005, I wanted it taken care of.”
Having dealt with $7.5 million in requisitions over his four years in office, he said losing track of $357 is "very plausible, not just in government, but in private business.”
