Donald C. Cosgrove, 84, of Lehman, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Mr. Cosgrove was born in Duryea, May 16, 1923, a son of the late Howard A. and Gertrude Jones Cosgrove. He moved, with his family, to Dallas in 1937; and graduated from Dallas High School in 1942.
Donald was employed as a salesman for the Church and Dwight Baking Soda Co., New York City; and later worked for Elston Farm Dairy, Trucksville, Emerson Chemical Co., Norristown, and retired from Master Chemical Co., Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Cosgrove was a former member of Kunkle United Methodist Church, where he served as both a choir director and board member for over 30 years and is presently a member of the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Kunkle Fire Co. and the Lake Lehman Band Parents Association.
As an accomplished musician, Donald played in many local bands, and in the early 1940s was a member of the Frank Lombardo Orchestra, Pittston.
His brother, Howard Cosgrove Jr., passed away in 1942.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Marjorie Downing; a son, Howard Cosgrove and his wife, Judeth, of Los Angeles; a brother, Kenneth; and a niece, Kendra Cosgrove, both of Lehman; and a brother-in-law, Allan Downing and his wife, June, of Elizabethtown.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Beverly Butler officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Harding. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
