John “Reb” Morton, 81, of Harveys Lake, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Plains Township.
Mr. Morton was born in Jacksonville, N.C., on April 4, 1926, a son of the late Jacob and Mattie Kellum Morton. He has resided at Harveys Lake for the last 20 years.
He was employed by Avis Rental Cars, and retired from General Electric Corp., Philadelphia, after 40 years. He also worked for the former Daring’s Market, Dallas.
John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; and was a member of Harveys Lake American Legion.
His wife, the former Rose Cook, died in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Nick Morton; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are daughters, Louise Morton, of Harveys Lake; and Rose Montgomery, of Sugarland, Texas; grandchildren, Sean, Angie, Shannon, Rosie, Colleen and Stewart; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. The Rev. L.D. Reed, pastor of Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake, will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
