FRACKVILLE – A Hazleton woman was arrested on evidence of drunken driving after state police at Frackville stopped her on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County early Tuesday morning.
Police said Maria Zaylskus, 32, driving a 1991 Chevrolet, was stopped in the southbound lane for erratic driving at about 5:25 a.m.
Zaylskus failed field-sobriety tests and was taken to Pottsville Hospital for a blood-alcohol test, police said.
LUZERNE – Swoyersville police reported the following incidents:
• Brian Pope, 38, of Luzerne, was charged with simple assault and harassment after a disturbance at a residence on Ann Court at 5:57 p.m. Monday, police said.
• David Smith, 47, of Luzerne, was charged with harassment after a disturbance at a residence on Charles Street at 12:22 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
KINGSTON – An Edwardsville man was arrested Friday and charged with assaulting a woman on Market Street.
Jamal S. Williams, 24, of Main Street, was charged with indecent assault and harassment. He remained jailed Tuesday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $7,500 bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
A woman told police she was walking toward the UFCW Credit Union at about 10:15 a.m. when two men walked near her. One of the men yelled offensive remarks to her.
She began walking faster when she was grabbed by one of the men, identified as Williams, the criminal complaint says.
The woman told her fiancÚ who confronted the two men, who threw rocks at their car.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for April 28 in Central Court.
