Landscapers put the finishing touches on a new Burger King restaurant that is set to open today at 11 a.m. at 140 N. Memorial Highway in Shavertown, replacing one that was built in 1974. At just under 3,000 square feet, the new building is 20 percent smaller. Table seating will shrink to 66 from 125. The reason is that more business now is done at the drive-through window than at tables, said John McCafferty, vice president of the Davis Group, which operates 17 Burger Kings in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Construction began in May after a neighboring building was purchased and demolished. The old restaurant operated until Monday, when it was torn down and replaced by additional parking.
