Anna Javage, 95, formerly of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday in Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.
Born in Parsons, on July 26, 1912, she was a daughter of the late John and Veronica Ashman. She was a life member of St. Francis Church, Miners Mills. She attended Wilkes-Barre schools and in her early years she was employed by Fernbaugh Silk Mill. She was also a member of the Plains Senior Citizens Club. She will be remembered for her smile and was the happiest when her children, sons-in-law and grandchildren came to visit.
Family and friends were always welcome to sit and chat on her “back porch”. She loved them all and they all loved her. She will be sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sr., who died in 1981; son, Albert Jr., who died in 1989; and brothers, William and John.
Surviving are daughters, Barbara Zawoiski, Poconos; Patricia Filipski, Mesa, Ariz.; Betty Smigiel, Old Forge; Rita Dehaba, Duryea; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 9:15 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Chandler Street, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre. Rev. Joseph A. Kearney will officiate.
Friends may call Friday, July 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
