James Teal

James Whitney Teal, 86, formerly of Edwardsville and a guest of Manor Care Nursing Facility, Kingston, passed away Monday evening, July 21, 2008.

He was born in Scranton, May 10, 1922 and was raised in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late James W. and Ruth E. (Morgan) Teal. He attended Wilkes-Barre schools and became a steeplejack, working for businesses in Wilkes-Barre and surrounding areas. He worked as a weaver for Hess and Goldsmith and prior to his retirement, he worked for the Desiderio Construction Company.

He formerly attended the Westmoor Church of Christ. He was a member and past president of the Wilkes-Barre Society of the Deaf. He was an enthusiastic fan of baseball, football and basketball. In his later years, he enjoyed watching old movies as well.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Earl David Teal, of Williamsport, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Cooper) Teal; daughters, Nancy Beyer, Kingston; Laura Nevolas, Swoyersville; and son, Barry James Teal, of Plymouth. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A special mention of gratitude to the staff of Manor Care for treating our Dad with loving care and making him feel special.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the William A. Reese Funeral Chapel, 56 Gaylord Ave., Plymouth, with Pastor Dan Miller of the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas.
