Jeff Curl shot 29 on the par-35 back nine to tie the tournament record. The 29 was only scored once at Glenmaura, in the third round during the 2003 tournament by Paul Gow. Par on Glenmaura’s last nine holes is 36.
The par-4, 530-yard No. 2 hole proved to be the most difficult on Friday as only 11 birdies were made. The average score of the hole was 4.280.
Playing the fairest on Friday was the par-5, 550-yard No. 6. A total of four eagles and 50 birdies were compiled, while the average score was 4.713.
Eight more eagles were carded on Friday, bringing the two-day total to 14. Four eagles were recorded each on No. 11 and No. 6. Hunter Haas, Scott Harrington, Phil Tataurangi and Josh McCumber all got to the par-5 11 in three shots, while David Branshaw, D.A. Points, Matt Bettencourt and Tim O’Neal eagled the par-5 sixth.
Jeff Curl made five straight birdies on holes 14 through 18. The tournament record for consecutive birdies was six set by Doug LaBelle III in 2006.
Through two rounds of play, Greg Chalmers and Brad Fritsch had accumulated the most birdies with 13, while Dustin Bray has 12.
