WILKES-BARRE – On the brink of elimination trailing two games to one, Berwick rallied to win games 4 and 5 and pull out the 3-2 victory over GAR on Monday in Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball. The scores were 13-25, 25-11, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13.
Corinne Valeski (6 points, 8 blocks, 8 kills), Kelley Yekel (10 points, 7 digs, 22 assists), Julia Vasia (8 points, 7 digs, 7 kills) all helped the Grenadiers.
Paced by 11 kills from Leanne Grabski and six from Catherine Sullivan the Black Knights won 25-13, 25-7, 25-17.
Sarah Sorber added 27 assists and five kills for Lehman.
For the Spartans, Emily Wallitsch had six digs, Emily Repshas tallied seven blocks and Shelby Butz contributed four service points and four assists.
The Royals won 25-13, 25-8, 25-8 as Brianna Dugas led the way with 10 kills and Jessica Swida chipped in 15 service points.
Mary Loughran (4 assists) and Megan Kazmerski (11 points) also contributed for Redeemer.
Shauna Phillips’ 12 kills and six service points helped the Mountaineers to the 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 win.
Sarah Flannery (6 kills, 3 blocks 14 points), Katrina Heintz (8 kills, 13 points) and Megan Murtaugh (23 assists, 13 points) also helped Dallas.
For Nanticoke, Katie Blockus had two kills and four blocks, Morgan Thomas registered five kills and Kelsey Yohey had five kills and three digs.
Jenny Wizeman had six kills, five blocks and six aces to lead the Cougars to victory over the Hawkeyes by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 15-25, 25-20. Lindsey Baranko added 17 assists and four aces, while Michelle Vowler notched four kills, five digs and six aces.
Jess Batchler led Hanover with six kills, 18 digs and five assists, while Krystal Jimenez had 15 digs and two aces.
