Daniel A. Jankowski Sr., 78, died suddenly on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
He was born October 8, 1929, in Dorrance, a son of the late Stanley and Blanche DeMorat Jankowski and moved to Raritan, N.J., where he lived with his family for 37 years. He retired in 1984 from Johns-Manville in Englewood, N.J., after 37 years of service, where he belonged to the Quarter Century Club. He belonged to St. Joseph’s Church of Raritan, N.J. and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He moved back to Dorrance, Pa., in 1986, where he was an altar server at the morning Masses at St. Mary’s Church. He was employed by Mr. Z’s Food Market and retired after five years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa Veneziale Jankowski; his loving children, Daniel Jr. and wife Vikki, of Denver, Colo.; Robert and wife Sheila, of Bethlehem, Pa.; Thomas and wife Cheri, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his daughter, Judy MacMinn, and husband Dennis, Holland Township, N.J.; his grandchildren, Jonelle and Danny III, Robert, Elyse, Nicole, Rachel; and Tara and Eric; his great-granddaughters, Jadyn, Destiny and Ashylnn; and daughter-in-law Michele Jankowski. He is also survived by his sisters, Pearl Smith, of Salem, Ohio; and Rosalie Greenfield, of Columbus, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Theodore, Chester, Leonard, Bernard; and sisters Florence Zamorski and Margaret Glista.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s RC Church, Dorrance, with the Rev. Father Mark Honhart officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
