Richard E. Emmert, 92, of Kingston and formerly of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, the anniversary of his wedding, and the birthday of the love of his life, Mary Ward Emmert.
Born July 25, 1916 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late John and Lucy Collins Emmert.
A master carpenter, he was a member of Local 645, United Brotherhood of Carpenters for more than 45 years. Most recently, he was employed by the Pethick Construction Company for more than 20 years before retiring.
Richard was very kind and always ready to help anyone. Family and faith were most important to him and his greatest joy, and he lived his life dedicated to both.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ward Emmert, June 9, 2000; brothers, John, Robert and Paul; and a sister Margaret.
Surviving are a son, Richard E. and his wife, Elizabeth Berger Emmert, of Harvey’s Lake; daughter, Donna and her husband, Stephen W. Banas Jr., of Nanticoke; grandchildren, Stephen Banas, Richard Emmert Banas, Robert Banas, Lisa Emmert Krzywicki, Susan Emmert Malloy, Renee Emmert Barber; seven great-grandchildren. We surely miss you already, Pop.
Funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from M.J. McLaughlin Company, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Ignatius Church, North Maple Avenue, Kingston.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday 5 to 8 p.m.
