The Skills USA Competition was held on January 18 at the Lackawanna Career and Technical Center. Wilkes-Barre Area Vocational-Technical students from Pittston Area High School placed as follows: First place, Mark Dale King, diesel; Second place, Rebecca Trapanese, commercial baking; Kevin Steen, team build; Third place, John Stalbird, cabinetmaking; Joseph Sipos, computer maintenance; Nicholas Smith, plumbing.
The students received medals for the efforts at the competition. All in all, “the competition was very entertaining,” said Joseph Sipos.

The Pittston Area Marching Patriots Band Boosters will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. All parents, band and guard members are encouraged to attend. Fundraising and end of the year trip will be discussed.
The countdown to graduation is less than 4 months away and we are in full swing planning and raising funds for the all night party. The all night party, which takes place on graduation night, provides our graduates with a chance to be together one last time in an alcohol/drug free environment. Please know that all money raised goes directly to our kids party. There are two fund raisers to participate in: Tupperware and Avon. Books can be picked up by your students in room c-3 or at the next meeting which will be held on Tuesday February 19 at 7 PM in the high school cafeteria, For more information call Mary Lou at 457-2438. Also a reminder to all who are selling lottery tickets returns are due by the 28th, Thanks to all who have been participating in the fundraising efforts.
