Russel H. Brassington Sr., 95, of North Thomas Avenue, Kingston, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at his home.
Born in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Hartman Brassington.
He graduated from Frackville High School, Class of 1929, and Beckley College, Harrisburg.
Mr. Brassington had resided in Kingston for the past 65 years. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed as a plumber.
Earlier he worked for the Carey, Baxter & Kennedy Strip Mine Company.
He was an elder of First Church of Christ, Wilkes-Barre; a member of BXA Fraternity; King David Lodge 763, F&AM; and a 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Chapley; brothers Lester and Stanley Brassington; sister Mildred Wenzel.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha James; sons Russel Jr., of Nanticoke, Robert Sr., of New Albany, and Richard Brassington, of Plymouth; daughter Roberta Boyd, of Butler Township; sister Sara Hartenstine; seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. William Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, Pa. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
