BAKER - Arthur M., 78, of Trojan Road, Hunlock Creek, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.

Born August 24, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre, he was employed many years in the maintenance department at College Misericordia, Dallas. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, the former Thelma Robbins; sisters, Elizabeth Keyser, Wilkes-Barre; and Hetty Nichols, Hunlock Creek; brothers, Nelson Wilcox, Wilkes-Barre; Charles Wilcox, Pittston; and Carl Wilcox, New York.

BREAKSTONE - Vesta Jane (Robinson), 79, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Trucksville, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008.

Born July 28, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a 1947 graduate of Kingston High School. She was employed in the Alumni Office of Wilkes University when she resided in Trucksville.

She and her husband moved to Florida in 1980 where she worked at Embry Riddle University. She was a-long time volunteer with Hospice of Volusia County and was a member of the Port Orange Church of Christ. Surviving are her daughters, Charlotte Mason and Debbie, both of Orlando, Fla.; son, Michael, Hanover Township; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

DUNNE - Russell L., 70, of 42nd Street, Dallas, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

Born November 2, 1938 in Kingston, he had attended Kingston area schools and was a graduate of Penn State University, where he received an associate’s degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the United States Navy.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 63.

Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Savits; daughters, Lynda Marie Comerosky, Chase; and Laurie Dunne, Phoenixville; stepdaughters, Kimberly Hanford, Mechanicsburg, and Wendy Caldwell, Cape Coral, Fla.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Dunne, Cape Coral, Fla.

PAWLOWSKI - Florence, of Tunkhannock, formerly of Warrior Run, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008.

Born September 19, 1918, she was a member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch, where she cleaned and decorated the church for over 35 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Norrine Thompson, Schenectady, N.Y.; sons, Terence, of Tunkannock, with whom she resided for the past 2 1/2 years; Eugene, of Sandusky, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

REAKES - Franklin L. Reakes, 77, of Jackson Township, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

Born in Jackson Township on March 16, 1931, he was awarded the Purple Heart and many other service medals while serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Co. and later by Ken Pollock Inc., prior to retiring in 1993.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Irene Hutchins; a son, Franklin Reakes Jr., Hunlock Creek; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Burkholder, Hunlock Creek; Arlene Deslich, Sweet Valley; Gladys Schneiderite, Pikes Creek; and a brother, Willard Reakes, Noxen.

WHITESELL - Robert, 74, of Oak Street, Trucksville, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre.

Born September 16, 1934 in Berwick, he was a member of Roaring Brook Baptist Church. He was employed many years at GAF Camera Plant in New York.

Surviving are his wife, the former Harriet Redmond; sons, Steven, Hunlock Creek; and Brian D., Shickshinny; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Cumberland, Shickshinny, and Beth Pollock, Pine Valley Creek.
