GAR’s comeback shaves Mohawks

WILKES-BARRE — GAR came back from a six-point halftime deficit to outscore Meyers by 10 points the rest of the way and pick up a 54-50 win in a Wyoming Valley Conference boys basketball game on Monday at GAR High School.

Mike Polakoski led GAR in scoring with a game-high 19 points, while Ryan Womack added 15 points.

Meyers had three guys score in double figures led by Keyton Winder’s 18 points. Anthony Johnson followed with 13 points and Jon Montalvo chipped in 10.

MEYERS (50): Montalvo 4 1-1 10, Johnson 4 2-2 13, Spicer 0 2-4 2, Curry 1 0-0 3, Winder 6 6-10 18, Walters 2 0-0 4. Totals 17 11-17 50.

Sean Bieski scored 17 points to lead Nanticoke past host St. Michael’s.

Jared Kmietowicz added 13 points while Cael Evans had 11 for the Trojans.

Corey Prince scored 12 points to pace St. Michael’s.
