Patrick Sandone Sr.

Patrick W. Sandone Sr., Dunmore, died Friday evening in the Hospice of Mercy Hospital.

His wife was the former Madelyn Ferguson, who died Sept.14, 1989.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Charles and Maria Perna Sandone.

He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of All Saint’s Church, Dunmore, and its Holy Name Society. Prior to founding Sandone Tire Co. in 1953, he served as a district sales manager for Dunlop Tire Co. He was a founding member of the Dunmore Lions Club and was the 1996 recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, dedicated to Humanitarian Service by the Lions Club International Foundation., a founding member of the Dunmore Booster Club, a founding member of the Friends of the Bucks and was a member of the former Scranton Lodge of Elks, the Jr. Mechanics, the Elmhurst County Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was an honorable and true gentleman and was devoted to his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Sandone.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolee Williams and husband Harry, Kingston; and Mary Beth McCarthy and husband Thomas, Dunmore; two sons, Patrick W. Sandone Jr. and wife Rosemary, Dunmore; and Michael P. Sandone, Dalton; a sister, Josephine Williams, Atco, N.J.; and a brother, Charles Sandone, and wife Elizabeth, Florida; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mildred Murphy, Dunmore; and his longtime companion, Rosemary Gaffney, Throop.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in All Saints Church, Ward Street, Dunmore. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore. Friends may call today, from 4 to 8 p.m.
