PHILADELPHIA — Braden Looper pitched six scoreless innings, Mike Cameron hit a two-run double and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 on Wednesday night.
J.J. Hardy had a solo homer for the Brewers, who snapped a six-game losing streak against the Phillies in the regular season. Philadelphia beat Milwaukee 3-1 in a first-round playoff series last fall.
Looper (2-0) allowed five hits and walked two. Mark DiFelice and Carlos Villanueva each tossed a perfect inning and Todd Coffey pitched out of trouble in the ninth to earn his second save.
After striking out Ryan Howard, Coffey allowed a solo homer to Jayson Werth and a single to Raul Ibanez. He retired Pedro Feliz on a fielder’s choice grounder before pinch-hitter Matt Stairs singled. Coffey then struck out pinch-hitter Chris Coste to end it.
Phillies starter Joe Blanton (0-2) gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings. He has lost two straight outings after going unbeaten in his first 17 starts with Philadelphia.
PITTSBURGH — The Florida Marlins went from being very hot to very cold during only three days in Pittsburgh.
Adam LaRoche had four hits and little brother Andy LaRoche drove in a pair of runs, leading the Pirates to a victory over Florida and a three-game sweep of what previously was the majors’ hottest team.
Florida began the series with an 11-1 record, a seven-game winning streak and a 6-0 road record, only to be outscored 18-6 while being swept in a three-game series by Pittsburgh for the first time since May 30-June 1, 2005.
SAN FRANCISCO — Bengie Molina’s pinch-hit double with two outs in the 10th inning drove in Andres Torres to give the San Francisco Giants a 1-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.
Torres hit a one-out single off Edwin Moreno (0-2) and stole second. After Eugenio Velez struck out, Moreno intentionally walked Fred Lewis before Molina hit a ground-rule double that bounced over the wall in left-center.
PHOENIX — Dan Haren pitched seven sharp innings for his first win this season and Ryan Roberts’ pinch-hit single broke a scoreless tie, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Colorado Rockies.
Haren and Colorado’s Jorge De La Rosa matched shutout innings until the seventh, when Chris Young singled off De La Rosa, went to second on Chris Snyder’s single and scored on Roberts’ single.
It was the second major league RBI for Roberts, playing in his 26th career game.
WASHINGTON — Kelly Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk from Mike Hinckley in the ninth inning, lifting Atlanta over Washington.
The Braves won for the second time in seven games. The Nationals, who took the first two games of the three-game series, dropped to 3-11 — the worst record in the majors.
The game was scoreless through eight, with Jair Jurrjens pitching 7 2-3 innings for Atlanta and John Lannan seven for Washington.
Matt Diaz singled with one out in the ninth against Garrett Mock (0-1) and was forced at second on Casey Kotchman’s grounder.
