Paul M. Stevens Sr., 62, of Gateway Drive, Edwardsville, has fallen asleep in the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Kingston, a son of the late Claude M. and Anna Berdy Stevens. He was a graduate of East Brunswick High School, N.J.
He was employed for 26 years by the Delco Remey Battery Co., N.J. He also was employed by the custodial department of the Franklin Township School system. He was a 40-year member of the Masonic Order Union Lodge 19 F&AM, North Brunswick, N.J., a member of the Valley of Central Jersey serving in the Scott Chapter and Trinity Commandery.
He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Edwardsville.
Surviving are his children, his son, Paul M. Stevens Jr., Mountain Top; his daughter, Jackie Ann Spitz, Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Rayanna, Lyssa Belle and Michael; his brother, Claude M. Stevens and his wife, Carol, Harlam, Ga.; his aunt and caregiver, Mary Kosciuszko, Kingston, and aunt Olga Merowsky, Edwardsville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville, with Requiem services at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 93 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville, with the Rev. Martin Browne, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Pringle.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. A Parastas service will be held at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Browne officiating.
