The summer reading program, “Be Creative @ Your Library,” magically came to an end last Wednesday at the Back Mountain Memorial Library with the help of “The Illusion Students,” magicians JustinCrediBle and Jack Davenport.

Young patrons who took part in the summer reading program enjoyed an afternoon filled with magic tricks, prizes, sno-cones, cake, snacks and refreshments.

Prizes were awarded to three participants who came the closest to guessing the number of crayons in the jar in the Children’s Room. First prize went to Annalise Chesire, second prize to Jacob Herceg and third prize to Nathan Scheuermann. The actual number of crayons in the jar was 497.

Parent prizes were selected from all program participants. The parents of Logan Steele and Justin and Sydney Lamoreaux each won a gift card, books and a library bag.

Alexis Pelchar won the $20 gift certificate for Target in the teen read and review program, “Relax & Read.”

All participants who completed their required eight books were entered in a drawing to win an additional prize. Prize winners are Tyler Osipower, Samantha Pickering, Abby Barber, Jonathan Scintilla, Tyler Edmondson, Sophia Gordon, Bridget Pelletier, Alyssa Pritchard, Anthony Davison, Nichole Conrad, Joseph Chaga, Katie Kostrobala, Kaelyn Hinkley, Kaya Pickering, Sarah Rood, Megan Bryk, Chad Honeywell, Charlie Swepston, James Eckert, Todd Price, Madison Baloga, Dallas Woodruff, Emily Crahall and Katie Bogdon. Winners may go to the library to collect a prize if they did not attend the final party.

All participants who completed their eight books, whether on-line or on a reading log, may go to the library to receive their reading certificates and final prizes.

The Pepsi Bottling Company of Wilkes-Barre graciously donated all the refreshments and Sam’s Club presented a gift card which was used toward the purchase of the cake.

Other companies that participated in summer reading were Hildebrandt Learning Centers, Burger King of Shavertown, Curry Donuts of Dallas, Wendy’s of Dallas, McDonald’s, Aunt Annie’s Pretzels, Domino’s Pizza, Target, Home Depot, Rita’s Italian Ice, Sno Cove and Picture People.
