Pre-med students honored for accomplishments

Misericordia University recognized the academic accomplishments in physics and biology of graduating students Sallyann Cusma, Dallas; Lindsay Smith, Plains Township; and Linda Mullen, Dallas, by presenting them with academic awards during the annual Honors Awards Banquet. Cusma graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She received the Professor Kenneth J. Rockensies Award that is presented to a mathematical or natural sciences graduate in recognition of outstanding achievement, and the Robert Anderson Award in Pre-Medicine which is given to the outstanding graduate in the pre-medicine curriculum for academic excellence and service and leadership to the university. Smith was awarded the Dr. Tatjana Petrychenko Award which was established by the Misericordia University Biological Society. The award is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement in biology. Smith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Mullen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was presented the Stan Knapich Award for demonstrating outstanding academic performance in the biology and secondary education curriculum.
