John Novak

John (Jack) T. Novak, 73, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday evening, November 21, 2009, at Hospice of VNA Inpatient Unit of the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.

Born November 15, 1936, in Larksville, he was a son of the late John and Bertha Novick Novak.

He resided in Plymouth most of his life and was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He was a member of All Saints Parish of Plymouth. He was an usher at the former St. Stephen’s Church of Plymouth and later of All Saints Parish.

Prior to retirement, he was employed as manager of correctional industries at the State Correctional Institute at Dallas for 36 years.

John was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion, Shawnee Post 463, Plymouth. He was also a member of PARSE, Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees and was formerly involved with Cub Scouts in Plymouth. He was a coach of the Plymouth Little League for several years and a member of the Plymouth Golf League.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Geraldine Estock; two sons, John D., Edwardsville, and Michael A., Larksville; grandson Michael; sister Norma Koscinski, Media, Pa; brother Robert Novak, Hanover Township; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call today, from 6 to 8 p.m.
