Mary Ann Yarosz

Mrs. Mary Ann Yarosz, 74, of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Nov. 21, 2009, at Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurses Association, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Her husband was the late Stanley J. Yarosz, who passed away on March 20, 2008. Together, Stanley and Mary Ann shared 54 beautiful years of marriage.

Born in Hughestown on May 22, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John Della and Della Yonelunas Spudis. She was a 1954 graduate of Hughestown High School. A homemaker most of her life, Mary Ann took great pride in caring for her family. Mary Ann was a member of Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville. She was also a member of the Luzerne Senior Citizens Club and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her son Jeffery Yarosz, who passed away in 1993; and brother John Spudis.

Mary Ann is survived by her son John Yarosz and Jane Rice, Kingston Township; sister, Ruth Tavella, Kingston; brother Leo Spudis, Exeter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Church, 283 Shoemaker St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. William J. Karle officiating. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Duryea. Family and friends may call today, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
