The RSVP Advisory Council elected new officers to serve two-year terms at a recent meeting. Incoming officers are Donna Sketchus, president; Wayne Wolfe, vice president; and Marquene Klimchok, secretary. The council also welcomed new members: Lisa Morgan, Jewish Family Services, and Leslie Bullock, Misericordia University. The council meets every other month to advise and suggest ideas to improve the community through volunteering. The council assists staff with matters affecting planning, support and program decisions and participates in the annual project evaluation, fund-raising events and volunteer recognition. RSVP is sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The Governor’s Commission on Children recently sponsored a forum on Prevention for Northeastern Pennsylvania at the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion, Edwardsville. More than 50 human service professionals from throughout Pennsylvania attended. One of the themes was the “No Wrong Door” project, which is designed to assist people with timely access to services and the importance of the human services’ system being family friendly.
The Physical Therapy staff and John Heinz Rehab recently gathered to celebrate Physical Therapy Month.
