WILKES-BARRE — Drew Feldman’s 15-7 major decision and an unsportsmanlike penalty point deduction enabled Wilkes to score a 17-17 tie against The College of New Jersey Tuesday.
Feldman’s victory at heavyweight was part of a comeback that saw the No. 19 Colonels battle back from an 18-10 deficit. Zach Pizarro’s 9-4 decision over Ed Broderick at 197 got Wilkes to within five points before Feldman’s bout with Adam Koziol.
TCNJ coach David Icenhower was given a warning after leaving the bench area in the middle of the heavyweight bout and was then penalized a team point for stepping onto the mat, allowing Wilkes to tie the match at 17.
The tie moved the Colonels record to 12-5-2 overall and snapped TCNJ’s four-match win streak. The Lions are now 11-1-1 overall. Wilkes will be back in action Saturday when they head to Gettysburg for a quad meet with Plymouth, Kutztown and Gettysburg.
