Michael J. Salvo, 93, of West Pittston, passed away at home on Thursday, June 25, 2009.
Born in Pittston, on Jan. 4, 1916, he was a son of the late Charles and Catherine Capitano Salvo.
He was a graduate of West Pittston High School and attended two years of business school. In his earlier years, he worked as a miner employed by his father and also by his father-in-law.
Prior to retirement, he was the fuel truck driver for Addy Asphalt Company. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.
He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his father and son.
He was preceded in death in 1999 by his beloved wife, the former Lillian E. Saporito, R.N.
Surviving are son, Charles and his wife, Justine, Wall N.J.; daughters, Cathy and her husband, Joseph Petruncio, Bloomsburg; Lisa and her husband, Michael Remplewicz, Harding; grandchildren, Michael and Leigha Salvo, Nick Petruncio, Mindy and her husband, Eric Sanchez, Mia Lilly Remplewicz, great-granddaughter, Liliana Sanchez; sisters, Grace Messina and Angeline Zezza; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call today, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
