George Nichols, area businessman and community leader, will be honored by the Rotary Club of the Abingtons with the Rotary’s newly established George Nichols Community Leadership Award. An event will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 25, at the Inn at Nichols Village, Clarks Summit, with a cash bar and dinner starting at 6 p.m. followed by the program. Dr. David Palmiter, Clarks Summit resident psychologist, has been re-elected to a new two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.

His new term extends through June 2011. PPA is the second largest state psychological association with more than 3,000 members. Dr. Palmiter will continue to serve as communications board chair, managing internal and external communications of the association. He was also asked to serve on the association’s executive committee and to chair the PPA president’s task force on cybertechnology.

Dr. Palmiter is also professor at Marywood University and has a private practice in Clarks Summit.

Jude Stambone has joined Long Financial Management Group, 1618 N. Main St., Scranton, as a financial advisor. A lifelong Lackawanna County resident, he is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and the University of Scranton. Before joining Long Financial, Jude was affiliated with Wells Fargo Bank, where he served as vice president of investments and supervised two branches.
