Key Players: Jared Kmietowicz, Sr.; Chris Buchanan, Sr.; Blake Brown, Sr.; Anthony Cardone, Jr.; Jared Bartusek, Jr. Outlook:The team has already equaled its win total of last year when it knocked off MMI earlier in the week. Key Losses: Rich Andres, Joe Patrizi, Joseph Humanik

Key Players: Joe Caffrey, Sr.; Mike Daubert, Sr.; Seamus Gartley, Fr.; Michael Post, Fr.; Nate Oliver, Fr.; Mike Goble, Jr.

Outlook: Coughlin is a sleeper team in the conference, but it would be hard to tell by looking at its start. The Crusaders started off with losses to Tunkhannock and Wyoming Area, two of the strongest teams in the conference and face Pittston Area Friday. A strong finish should put them near the top of the conference when all is said and done.

They return standouts in Keanu Sorbelli and Brandon Matthews and have already beaten Tunkhannock in an early-season divisional showdown en route to a 4-0 start. Look for PA to be a strong contender in the division and the conference.

Key Players: Adam Charles, Sr.; Matt Millan, Sr.; Mason Kenia, Sr.; Louis Sick, Sr.; William Hardy, Sr.; Kyle Christy, Jr.; Jesse Greenip, Jr.; Justin Brown, Sr.; Steve Brennan, Sr.; Ryan Potuck, So.

Outlook: Losing one of the best high school golfers to come through the area in quite some time in Dakota Brown, the Tigers are ready for another championship run. They claimed the conference championship in 2007, but lost out on the title last year to Holy Redeemer. They have already lost to Pittston Area in the division race, but in what could be a wild year, the Tigers should be contending for a conference title in 2009.

Outlook: Sticking with a tradition of getting a huge turnout to sign up for the team, the Warriors are very deep with a 40-player roster. They also have had a tradition of having a strong female player and that will be the same again this year as Vicky Petrosky anchors the talented Wyoming Area bunch. In a tough division, they might have problems winning the championship, but a respectful season as always shouldn’t be a problem.

Outlook: Watch out for Chris Schiel, who has been the strongest part of the Grenadiers’ roster for quite some time. He has the talent to be in contention for a league championship and a strong finish at the District 2 Tournament. As for the team, Buzinkai said that 2009 could be a rebuilding season.

Key Players: Mark Stevenson, Sr.; Paul Holmgren, Sr.; Mike Szklanny, Sr.; Robert Hess, Sr.; Evan Mooney, Jr.; Eric Killen, Jr.; Chris Coley, Jr.; Robert Kost, Jr.; Dean Jones, So.

Outlook: The Hawkeyes are young and don’t have much experience with the exception of Mike Szklanny, who anchors the young team. A sub .500 season could be in store for the bunch, but if they can stick together for the next few years, Hanover Area will be in contention in the near future.

Key Players: Mike Smith, Sr.; Tony Morrash, So.; Dan Conrad, Fr.; Will Amesbury, Fr.; Rob Reilly, So.; Rob Lehnert, Jr.; Matt Cranston, So.; Vito Pasone, So.

Outlook: Meyers went winless the last two years but the team has already surpassed that total when it defeated Hanover Area earlier in the week. The Mohawks have a favorable schedule and could find themselves with a second-place finish in the division when the season has ended.

Northern Division Dallas

Home Course: Irem Temple Country Club (Par 36)

Coach: Tom Kilduff, 20th year

Key Players: Andrew McCabe, Sr.; Tony Bevevino, Sr.; Mike Jayne, Sr.; Austin Smith, So.; Chris Ellis, Sr.; Will Bevevino, Jr.; Greg Selenski, So.; Travis DeBona, Jr.; Tom Tidy, Jr.

Outlook: The Mountaineers are the favorite to dethrone Wyoming Seminary as division champion. They entered the season with a flurry of senior leadership and even obtained a transfer, Will Bevevino from Seminary. Dallas appears ready for a championship run and could possibly be in the running for the league title by season’s end.

Home Course: Huntsville Golf Club (Par 36)

Coach: Tom Motovidlak, 2nd year

2008 Record: 2-9

Key Losses: Matt Scavone

Key Players: Jonathan Thomas, Sr.; Jeff Heath, Jr.; Nathan Rinehouse, So.; Kyle Fine, So.; Cody Cutter, So.

Outlook: The squad is led by Jonathan Thomas, but the rest of the team is quite young and will have a learning year. Still, an improvement on last year’s two-win total is within reach.

Key Losses: Mike Hirthler, Lee Molitoris

Key Players: John Henry, Sr.; Garrett Koenecke, Sr.; Evan Leas, Jr.; Ronnie Rose, Jr.; Christian Santarelli, Jr.; Frank Henry, Fr.

Outlook: After an unbeaten record last year, the Blue Knights could be on course to run the table again this year, but they will get some strong competition from Dallas.

Wyoming Valley West

Home Course: Irem Temple Country Club (Par 36)

Coach: Gary Mack, 2nd year

2008 Record: 6-5

Key Losses: Jake Humphreys, Joe Haley, Pat Brady, Dan Harrison, Eric Elko

Key Players: Nick Humphreys, Jr.; Steve Brand, Jr.; Tim Kuscavage, Sr.; Lexy Barsh, Jr.; Chris McCue, Jr.

Outlook: The Spartans are coming off a successful season and return a solid group from that team. Another over .500 record is in sight and a playoff berth could also be looming.
