Costumes for couples

With so many Halloween parties, it can be difficult to find the time to plan a costume with your significant other. Ideally, it would be a blast to design your own costume and hand craft the masterpieces from scratch. Finding the time, however, is a whole different story. Secondly, not all of us got straight As in home economics. For those of us with tight schedules and poor sewing skills, there is hope at well-known costume stores’ Web sites.

With sites like costumecraze.com, costumekingdom.com, purecostumes.com, and mrcostumes.com, the Halloween guessing games can be eliminated and an easy, fun Halloween selection is just a click away. Whether it’s sexy costumes, outlandish costumes or simply humorous costumes that tickle your fancy, these sites can offer affordable choices. Are a lot of them cheesy? Of course, but what fun is dressing up if you can’t loosen up a little?

Some of these costumes are obviously not appropriate for every type of Halloween party. If you know there will be children present, I don’t advise the ball and chain costume. Go with King Kong or a hot dog and ketchup set of costumes instead. Be wise when making your selection, and know your audience ahead of time.

These sites also have costumes for children, so they can make your Halloween costume shopping ridiculously easy, creating a one stop shopping source for your entire family. If you have kids and are taking them out trick or treating, perhaps an entire theme is the way to go, like ketchup, mustard, a hot dog and hamburger. Depending on how many kids you have, you can have a whole picnic.

A bit of caution: check what the costume comes with before purchasing. Some are seen with accessories that are sold separately. For example, not all the costumes seen with big white gloves actually come with those gloves. You may have to buy some pieces individually.

Have fun this Halloween. Be safe, and take the stress out of costume shopping for you and yours. You might not have the most original costume at the party, but you’ll be able to find something fun and easy. A few hauntinis, blood-red sangrias and three or four dance routines to the “Monster Mash” and “Thriller,” and you’ll no long worry about the originality of your costume anyway. Happing haunting!
