Henry W. Todd III, 78, of Shavertown, Pa. and formerly of Philipsburg, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurses Association, Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 13, 1931 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Henry W. Jr. and Bernice (Callahan) Todd.
He was a member of the George M. Dallas Lodge #531 and the Free & Accepted Masons, Dallas. He was also a member of the Chapter, Council and Consistory in the valley of Bloomsburg and was a member of the Shrine, Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where he was a member of the Legion of Honor.
He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #1773, Philipsburg, Pa.
Mr. Todd was an agent with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board until his retirement.
He was a 1949 graduate of the Philipsburg High School, Philipsburg, Pa.
His wife, the formerly Beverly Wriglesworth, whom he married August 16, 1958 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg, Pa., survives him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters Cheryl Smiljic and her husband, Marko, of Philadelphia, Pa. and Lyn Merchant and her husband, Ibrahim, of New York, N.Y.; and son Michael Todd, of Dallas, Pa.; one grandchild, Sebastian Todd Merchant, of New York, N.Y.
At the request of Mr. Todd, private funeral services will be held from the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Phillipsburg, Pa. The Rev. Fr. William R. Walker is officiating.
Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg, Pa. There will be no public visitation.
