WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

Officers responded around 10:25 p.m. Monday to the area of 59 Fredrick St. for a hit-and-run crash. Selina McHugh, of Wilkes-Barre, owner of a 1990 Chevrolet Corsica and a witness to the crash, told officers that a woman driving a truck with Pennsylvania registration YDL 5429, struck the Corsica while it was parked.

Police located the truck, a 2006 Chevrolet, at 597 Blackman St. and said the damage on it was consistent with the debris left at the accident scene.

Korrianne Murgallis, of Wilkes-Barre, reported at 9:10 p.m. Monday that Michael Covin Jr., also of Wilkes-Barre, spit in her face during an argument at 412 S. Franklin St. Covin was cited with harassment.

A man snatched 73-year-old Alberta Evancho’s purse in the area of 163 S. Washington St. just after 7 p.m. Monday.

Mary Griffiths’ Carey Avenue home was burglarized and money was stolen on Monday night.

BEAR CREEK TWP. – A White Haven man was arrested on evidence of driving under the influence of alcohol after state police troopers found him slumped over the wheel of his truck on Route 115 just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

State police at Wyoming said Jeffrey Hartley, 28, appeared to be highly intoxicated. Hartley’s vehicle, a 2004 Nissan Titan, was facing south and stopped in the middle of the north lanes blocking traffic, police said.

The investigation is continuing, according to state police.
