Nora M. VerHuel, 73, of Harveys Lake, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Hospice Care of the VNA, Inpatient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. VerHuel was born in Wilkes-Barre, on May 6, 1936, and was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Laura Sites Harrison, Sr.
Nora was employed as a van driver for handicapped children. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas.
Her husband, John, died in 1985; and her daughter, Bonnie L. Johnson, died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Harrison; and a sister, Naomi Miller.
She is survived by her son-in-law, James M. Johnson, of Florida; grandchildren, Tamaro Johnson and Summer Sommer; and a great-granddaughter, Belldandy Sommer; brothers, Andrew Harrison, of North Carolina, and Roscoe Harrison Jr., of Michigan; and a sister; Donna Bennett, of Georgia.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Charles H. Grube officiating. Interment will be in the Idetown Cemetery, Lehman Township. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service on Tuesday.
