Marcella (Rahl) Hasay Ceglarski, 81, formerly of Shickshinny, passed away peacefully after a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday morning, Oct. 2, 2008 in ManorCare, Kingston.
Born Sept.,18, 1927, in Edwardsville, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Matura) Rahl.
She graduated in 1945 from the former Garrison Memorial High School in Shickshinny and attended the former Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was first employed for the Treasury Department in Washington D. C., then worked as a secretary for Dr. Baskett and his wife at the former Retreat State Hospital in Hunlock Creek, and was last employed at the former Country Cousins shoe factory in Mocanaqua, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Ascension Church, Mocanaqua, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was also a life member of the Mocanaqua VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6434, having served at one time as a chaplain. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph J. Hasay, who died in 1958, and by her second husband, Joseph Ceglarski, who died in 1997.
Surviving are a son, Joseph J. Hasay Jr., Arroyo Grande, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Mary Anne) Klaips, Dallas, and Mrs. Alex (Joanie) Ferrance, Houston, Texas; grandchildren Jennifer (Klaips) Glahn, Jordan Hasay, and Jedd Hasay; a brother, Robert Rahl Jr., Trenton, N.J.; a sister Eleanor Antonacci, Berwick; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Ascension Church, Mocanaqua with her pastor, the Rev. Stephen A. Krawontka, as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3 to 7 p.m.
