Keith H. Dierolf, of Scranton, a former resident of Gouldsboro, died Tuesday afternoon in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, after an illness.
He and his wife, the former Irene M. Scavazzo, would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on March 7, 2009.
He was born in Scranton, a son of Shirley Staples Cox, Gouldsboro, and the late Russell Dierolf. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and a graduate of North Pocono High School, Class of 1969.
He retired at the rank of Lieutenant after serving for 29 years with the Scranton Fire Department, was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Scranton Local 60 and a member of the Black Sheep, Scranton. He had also been employed by the Swift Fence Company.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Don Cox.
Also surviving are two daughters, Renee Parry and her husband, Chuck, Scranton; Kristen Krieger and her husband, Dave, Scranton; a granddaughter, Emily Parry; a sister, Linda Gialouris and husband John, Stroudsburg; a step-mother, Shirley Dierolf, Stroudsburg; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton, with services by Rev. Harrison W. Putnam, Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
