Mary Elizabeth Emel, 90, of Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at home.
She was born July 7, 1918, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Kuhn DeArmitt and the late Ellyerd DeArmitt.
She was a dedicated mother and housewife, who was kind, loving and giving. She raised 17 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leroy Emel; daughter, Rosie Emel; sons, Perry DeArmitt and Herbert DeArmitt.
She is survived by her children, Raymond DeArmitt, Kingston; Kate Shotwell, Larksville; Max Emel, Wyoming; Joseph Emel, Kingston; Janet Finney, Tunkhannock; Melvin Emel, Glen Lyon; Tina Ellsworth, Plymouth; Dorothy Strohl, Tunkhannock; Terry Emel, Glen Lyon; Patty Smith, Noxen; Tammy Appenzeller, with whom she resided; Michele Emel, Nanticoke; Pamela Tesar, Glen Lyon; Rose Emel Shotwell, Kingston; 64 grandchildren, 138 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. from the Williams-Hagen Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Edward Gospodinsky officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
