HAZLETON – The Hazleton Crime Watch is having a Summer Safety Seminar beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday behind Hazleton City Hall at 40 N. Church St., between Green and Maple streets.
The public is invited to the free inaugural event, which will include a police K-9 demonstration, a police bicycle patrol, a fire department demonstration, self-defense tips and demonstration, first aid tips and demonstration, fire safety tips, home security tips and refreshments.
Participating with the Crime Watch are the Hazleton Police Department, the Hazleton Fire Department, American Patient Transport Systems, Mountain Valley Family Martial Arts and Key Locksmith.

DALLAS – The Dallas Borough Road Department will begin work to resurface Red Ledge Drive next week, weather permitting. Resurfacing of Maplewood Drive and Highland Drive is planned for later in the year.

LEHMAN TWP. – The Lake-Lehman Junior-Senior High School’s 51st commencement will be held at 6 p.m.June 12, at Edward H. Edwards Stadium. This year’s class consists of 154 graduates. The commencement speaker will be Linda Bombick Swope, Lake-Lehman Class of 1969. She is a graduate of Wilkes University and George Washington University and is a project manager in the Business Consulting Services Group. She now lives in Dallas.
DANVILLE – The Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger ended its annual Celebration Weekend Sunday with a total $2,487,787 raised from corporate sponsors, community and employee groups, and phone-in pledges to benefit Janet Weis Children’s Hospital pediatric services.
